people buy jeep for reliabilty safety off road and no other vehical than jeep can reach over 300 thousand miles with no problems.. there simply the best and a trusting vehical

nakabar December 12, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Well, have fun relying on your brand new POS jeep that is designed to have components break after certain mileages. Have fun trying to work on your new car’s complex as fuck engine that they made in such a way that you essentially have to bring it in to professionals to get worked on. And know that they probably disconnect the odometer for test drives. Down with Chrysler. These slimy jewmobiles are to be avoided at all costs

im not talking about the new ones im talking about the JEEP 4.0L engines those were the BEST…all automakers make there vehicals impossible to work on with out a professional how it goes with the new cars these days… o and my friends dad works at a auto shop and just last week had to work on a brand new 2009 Ford f150 because of a shit engine he will never do that again…. older JEEPS are better newer ones are Ok

nakabar December 12, 2009 at 8:16 pm

yeah the old ones are pretty good -a few lemons

abram7117 December 30, 2009 at 4:55 am

we have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the thing is in the shop at least twice a year. always a expensive repair bill. looks nice but thats it. I do know ppl with Cherokees{not Grand Cherokee} and they still run great. however

lolnumpty March 21, 2010 at 1:02 am

every volvo i have owned has driven me past 300 thousand miles, ive only owned this jeep for a day, hope its as good as the volvo for reliability

lolnumpty March 21, 2010 at 1:05 am

i know you commented 5 months ago but this is what i think

a jeep commander can take you through places no other car can do, it can do it with a roof DVD player air conditioning and 7 people

spookypensreturns April 22, 2010 at 4:33 am

jeeps are good but certainly not the best off roader in the world

laytonwhoitis May 28, 2010 at 8:39 pm

qbored777 June 7, 2010 at 12:38 am

salt water noOOOOOOOO

Blitz4000 June 22, 2010 at 9:17 pm

Funny, I have a Commander but engine seized in only 2 feet of water. They should specify that only diesels can go through water. Their petrol engines are not that perfectly sealed.

JGCherokee July 12, 2010 at 7:59 pm

@Blitz4000 If you know what your doing and keep your foot out of the throttle you can drive through quite a bit of water and if you pay attention you will see that covering your owners book jeep only recommends on crossing 22″ of water stock

Blitz4000 July 12, 2010 at 8:44 pm

@JGCherokee

Keep my foot out of the throttle??? Is it that the wrong way when going thru water? because water will create more resistance when moving and you need to give throttle to increase engine power output to compensate for the increased resistance and to prevent the engine from shutting down.

Do you really know what you are talking about or you’re just pretending you know something?

4x4extremesports July 15, 2010 at 8:43 pm

@Blitz4000 actually hes right, less throttle. u will go very slow, but it works. i just went mudding in a commander and the guy that was driving went through a lil stream and he went dead slow, i asked why and he told me it was the only way for a commander to get through or else it’ll shut down. its got more than enough torque to keep pushing through at a slow crawl

Blitz4000 July 18, 2010 at 8:03 am

@4x4extremesports

I think its not what level of throttle you apply, it is the speed of the vehicle that matters to keep it from shutting down. Just goes to prove that the gas models are not well sealed as increased speed will make the water penetrate deeper into the engine bay and mess up the electronic fuel & ignition system. For the purpose of going through a lot of water, it is best to choose diesel engines because it is more impervious to water than gas engines.

4x4extremesports July 23, 2010 at 11:21 pm

@Blitz4000 oh yea i def agree that diesel is wayyy better. but in either engine its best not to run through it as fast as possible or it will, as u pointed out, make the water penetrate deeper, and where there is air the water will rush in faster making it more likely to penetrate into the actual engine and possibly cylinders causing it to shut down or stall. but yea diesel is best, specially bio diesel because the engines are better sealed
