   I would say it is better to travel by car (jeep or other) as it is more safe while you are driving. There are a lot of not so good roads and hitting a pot hole on a motorcycle would not be fun.

   I do disagree with the above answer regarding the public buses. They are awesome and they are not chicken buses. They do get a bit crowded depending on where you are going and when but they are very affordable and they are very reliable. Just be cautious with your stuff while you on them and you should not have a problem. I lived there for about 3 years and I used them all the time.

   Probably best to travel in a normal car…not to look like a tourist or rich person.

   Travel by motorcycle is dangerous and jeep screams "Rob me, I’m not from here"…

   I’d stay away from "public" transportation…i.e. Chicken Buses.. ever see "Romancing the Stone".. old 80′s movie

   I hear that crime rates are high in CR…so anything you can do to meld with how most people travel is best adviced

   If you’re going to be in-country, off main roads then you want something that has good traction, stability and control
