The best way to prevent a tear in a jeep soft top is to apply a Aluminium Waterproofing Tape. Put it on the inside of your soft top so it can’t be seen.
When you buy it make sure it’s Aluminum Waterproofing Tape that has the black tar backing. The tape remains flexible can stand extreme temperatures and will never come off. When you have applied it you can paint it with oil based paint to match the inside colour of your soft top.
If you can still notice tear mark on the outside of the soft top you can fill that with and Leather/Vinyl repair kit. http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/
super glue it, it will look good, but i’d reccomend getting a new part for it, luckly soft tops come on parts do you can get the part thats tore up from ebay!

You can stitch the rip back together with heavy nylon thread, then cover the repair with waterproof tape, but it’ll never look as good as a new top.
