How do you replace the heater blower motor switch in a 03 jeep wrangler?

by admin on August 27, 2010

The button that controls the speed of the fan in my jeep wrangler no longer works in the first three positions. Therefore, I’m forced to use the highest setting when I am running the air or heat. I believe its the blower motor switch based on the parts list but I’m no sure how to replace it without having to take it in and pay a fortune. Is there any advice on how to fix this problem?

It is not the switch that is bad. The problem is the blower motor resistor. This is located under the dash near the blower motor and is easy to change. They normally cost under $30.00 at any parts store and you can change it yourself with only basic hand tools and there is no wire cutting involved. The blower motor resistor regulates the amount of power that the motor can use by limiting the amount of ground it can use. When these resistors go bad you lose the slower settings until there is only the high setting. Hope I have been helpful.

99% chance its the blower motor resistor, not the switch. See post below
