Jeep Wrangler JK on the Rubicon

by admin on August 12, 2010

Here is my Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on th Rubicon. Well mostly on Big Sluice going uphill. Got denied at this pinch but still had a blast. My friend Bill is with us in his copper CJ. I was glad to see he was denied as well. FWIW I’ve seen many a broken vehicle on this obstacle so I guess having to go around was better than breaking and being there for a while. Debbie didn’t shoot much footage on this trip as the footing was pretty bad and our dog Chase took off and we spent some time tracking her down. Oh well next time I’ll get some more of the trail and the scenery of the Sierra’s.

What size tyres are they, 255/85×16 or bigger, they look tall & narrow which I like :)

how good is the 3.8 new engine compared to the old 4.0s?

Good vid but I think rock crawling is boring

still weak with really bad gas mileage. I was getting 17 mpg then I put on 285/70/17 MT’s and a wild boar roof rack and MPG dropped to 13.5 if I grandma it. Jeep needs to offer the diesel engine that is put in the grand cherokee and the hemi. I would buy either of those. Still fun to have though. Hope this helps.

where are these trails?

freakmanhere March 6, 2010 at 4:45 am

its the rubicon trail. Location is in cali. very famous trail

freakmanhere March 6, 2010 at 4:49 am

Ya I agree. I love jeeps but lets put a better engine in it. I plan an swapping out for a chevy v8 someday in my yj. I have heard that over seas they are putting diesel engines in the jeep but don’t know how true that is

bmickyutah March 14, 2010 at 11:17 pm

@freakmanhere
Hi I am from England and I took delivery in December 2009 ,of a Green 2dr Sahara 2.8 diesel wrangler.
Fuel Type Diesel
Gearbox 5 speed automatic
Max Power – bhp @ rpm 174 @ 3800
Max Torque – lb ft @ rpm 339 @ 2000 (460 Nm
Most wranglers in the UK are the diesel engine, only the Rubicon comes with the 3.8 v6 and only the 2dr model?
I traded up from my 1998 4.0l TJ owned since 1998?
I hope this answers your earlier question?
Kind regards mick

freakmanhere March 15, 2010 at 5:40 am

why can’t they put diesel engines in them for the US owners. I would love to get 1 with a diesel

TheCat321dlcr June 11, 2010 at 1:05 pm

wilskihill June 20, 2010 at 9:02 am

I have seen your truck up at UNR, nice to see that it gets wheeled. Well done.
