Where to get inexpensive electronic key for 2000 Jeep Wrangler?

by admin on August 9, 2010

I recently bought a used Jeep Wrangler and it unfortunately only came with one key and the teeth are somewhat worn so it can be difficult to remove. I have heard there is are cheaper places (other than the dealer) to get new electronic keys. Does anyone know of such a place? I’m afraid they key may get worn to the point where I can’t even use it and I would like to have one or two backups.

If you have an "electric" chipped key, you will need 2 of the original ones in order to add a 3rd key. It involves the programming. You need to insert the 2 correct ones before programming the 3rd. You can get chipped and unchipped keys from 4wd.com. If you only have one chipped key, you need to go to a dealer, and that’s expensive.

Look up 4wd and call them. They are Jeep nutz and they are very helpful.
